Today’s devotional is titled:
Putting On a Kind Heart
Colossians 3:12
“Therefore, as God’s chosen people, holy and dearly loved, clothe yourselves with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience.”
After school, Reni smiled to herself. She couldn’t wait to play with her favorite doll. But when she opened her bedroom door, she was surprised. “Hey, why are my toys all messy?” It turned out her little sister had borrowed them without asking. Reni’s heart suddenly felt hot. She almost shouted because she was so upset.
But then Reni remembered the Bible verse she had learned in Sunday School. God wants us to put on compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience. Reni took a deep breath and prayed softly, “Lord, please help me to be patient.”
With a calmer heart, Reni walked over to her sister and said gently, “If you want to borrow my toys, please ask first, okay?” Her sister smiled shyly and gave Reni a hug. Reni’s heart felt warm and peaceful again. Their home felt comfortable and full of love.
Rehobot Kids, maybe we have felt upset like Reni too. It isn’t always easy to be patient. But God has loved us first. That’s why we can learn to “put on” a kind heart every day. Let’s ask God to help us become children who are loving, gentle, and patient wherever we are.
