Protective Advice
Proverbs 6:20
“My son, keep your father’s command and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.”
Shalom, Rehobot Kids. Have you ever seen road signs or guardrails along the edge of a cliff while traveling with your family? Why are those guardrails built? Certainly not to restrict us, but to protect us so we do not fall and get hurt. In the same way, God has given us parents to guide and watch over us through the advice and instructions they give.
When Mom and Dad forbid us from using devices for too long or ask us to go to bed on time, they are not trying to hold us back. On the contrary, they want to protect our health, safety, and future. Because of their life experience, they know what is good for us and what can bring us harm.
Rehobot Kids, a wise person is not someone who knows everything, but someone who is willing to listen to and follow good advice. When we respect and obey our parents’ teachings, we are learning to grow into mature and thoughtful children. Therefore, let us continue to grow as children who obey God and our parents, so that our lives become a blessing and bring joy to God’s heart.
