Today’s Devotional Title:
Not Alone in a New Place
Psalm 34:4
“I sought the Lord, and He answered me; He delivered me from all my fears.”
Rina is a cheerful elementary school girl. She has many friends at her school, and every day they play and study together. But one day, Rina got the news that her dad had to move to another city for work, so she also had to transfer to a new school. Rina felt very sad because she had to leave her friends and start over in a new place.
On her first day at the new school, Rina felt nervous and awkward. Everyone was new, and she didn’t know anyone. During recess, the other kids were already playing in groups, while Rina sat alone. She missed her old friends very much. At that moment, Rina remembered Psalm 34:5—that when we seek the Lord, He will help us and take away our fears.
Every night, Rina prayed, “God, I feel sad and scared. Please help me find new friends at this school.” Even though she didn’t have friends right away, Rina kept praying and trusted that God had not left her. Slowly, she began to smile and try to greet her classmates.
Not long after that, a friend came up to Rina and invited her to talk and play. Rina felt happy because she finally made a new friend. She didn’t feel alone anymore. Rina learned that God always helps us when we pray and trust Him.
Rehobot Kids, we can be like Rina too. Sometimes we feel scared, sad, or confused when facing something new. But God always wants us to come to Him in prayer. He may not change everything right away, but He helps us little by little until we become strong and brave.
So don’t be afraid, okay? God is always with you and will never leave you.
