Nisa’s Test

Proverbs 28:26
“Those who trust in themselves are fools, but those who walk in wisdom are kept safe.”

One day, Nisa was taking a test in her class. While working on it, she found one question that was very difficult. Then she noticed some of her classmates quietly sharing answers with each other. Nisa started to think, “If I look at their answers, my test score might be better.”

But Nisa paused for a moment. She remembered that doing the right thing is not always the easiest choice. In her heart she prayed a short prayer, “God, please help me choose what is right.” Nisa decided to continue working using her own ability. She did not look at anyone else’s answers or ask her friends.

When the test results were handed out, her score was not the highest. But Nisa remembered the decision she had made during the test. She had chosen not to cheat because she did not want to hurt God’s heart. As the teacher handed back the tests, she said to the class, “Children, what matters most is not just the score we get, but our honesty.” When Nisa heard that, her heart felt peaceful.

She knew she had done the right thing. She no longer felt disappointed about her score. Instead, she felt thankful because she had been honest and had held on to God’s Word. That day, Nisa learned that a wise person does not simply follow what is easy or quick, but thinks carefully and chooses the right path.
