Today’s devotion titled:
Nara’s Responsibility
Colossians 3:20
“Children, obey your parents in everything, for this pleases the Lord.”
One morning, Mom asked Nara to make her bed before going out to play. But Nara said, “Later, Mom. I want to play first.” After playing for quite a while, Nara saw her mom doing a lot of housework all by herself. At that moment, Nara remembered that Mom had asked her to help earlier that morning.
Nara immediately went over to her Mom and said, “Mom, I’m sorry. I’ll make my bed right now.” Mom smiled and said, “Thank you, Nara. Mom is happy that you’re willing to obey.” Nara then happily made her bed right away.
Rehobot Kids, sometimes we’d rather play, watch TV, or do things we enjoy than obey our parents. However, God’s Word teaches us that obeying our parents is something beautiful in His sight. Obedience isn’t just about doing what’s asked of us, but also doing it with a joyful heart.
God gives us parents to guide and care for us. Therefore, when we learn to obey our parents, we are also learning to obey God. Let’s start today by doing small things with a heart that wants to please God and obey our parents with joy!
