Today’s devotion titled:
Mr. Tono’s Mango Trees
Matthew 12:33
“Make a tree good and its fruit will be good, or make a tree bad and its fruit will be bad, for a tree is recognized by its fruit.”
In front of Mr. Tono’s house were two large mango trees. Even though they were planted in the same area, their fruit was very different. One tree produced sweet and delicious mangoes, while the other produced small, sour fruit.
One day, Niko asked, “Sir, why are the trees different even though they were planted in the same place?”
Mr. Tono smiled and replied, “Because the fruit depends on what is happening inside the tree. A tree that is cared for well will produce good fruit.”
Niko began to understand that people are like trees too. If our hearts are filled with anger, jealousy, and bad habits, our words and actions will not be good. But if our hearts are filled with God’s love and a desire to do what is right, our lives will produce good fruit.
That night, Niko prayed, “Lord, change my heart so that my life will produce good fruit.” He realized that God does not only want to change our outward actions—He wants to change our hearts as well.
Rehobot Kids, what is in our hearts will be seen through the words we speak and the things we do every day. That is why we need to guard our hearts by praying, reading God’s Word, and choosing to do what is good.
So let’s allow God to fill our hearts with His love and truth. As He does, our lives will produce good fruit that pleases Him and blesses others!
