Today’s devotion titled:
Life Saving Advice
Hebrews 13:17
“Have confidence in your leaders and submit to their authority, because they keep watch over you as those who must give an account. Do this so that their work will be a joy, not a burden, for that would be of no benefit to you.”
One afternoon, Kevin and his friends were playing football on the field near the church after Sunday school ended. Close to the field was an area under repair. Before they started playing, Mr. Arman, the Sunday school supervisor, warned them, “Children, do not play too close to that closed-off area. It is dangerous.” All the children nodded in agreement. As the game went on, Kevin’s ball rolled toward that area. He was about to climb over the barrier fence to retrieve it, but then he remembered Mr. Arman’s advice.
Even though it meant taking a longer route around, Kevin chose to follow the instruction. Moments later, the wooden planks covering the work area shifted and fell into a deep hole. The children who saw this were shocked. Kevin realized that Mr. Arman’s warning was not meant to limit his fun, but to protect him from danger.
Rehobot Kids, God places spiritual leaders to guide, watch over, and help us grow in faith. Sometimes their advice may not always be easy to follow, but it is given for our own good. When we are willing to listen to and respect guidance that aligns with God’s word, we are learning to obey God. A wise person accepts good advice, knowing it can help and keep them safe.
