Guard Your Heart Carefully
Proverbs 4:23
“Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it.”
Did you know, Rehobot Kids, that our hearts are very important? The heart is the place of our feelings and thoughts. From our hearts can come kind words—but also unkind words. That’s why God wants us to learn to guard our hearts every day.
Guarding our hearts means not letting bad feelings stay there for too long. For example, when we see a friend with a new toy and start to feel jealous, or when we get scolded and feel angry. Those feelings may come, but we should not keep them and let them grow inside us.
Imagine your heart is like a garden. If you plant beautiful flowers, the garden will look lovely and pleasant. But if you let weeds grow everywhere, the garden will become messy. It’s the same with our hearts. If we fill our hearts with love, gratitude, and kindness, our lives will feel peaceful and joyful.
Proverbs 4:23 reminds us that our lives are influenced by what is inside our hearts. So, Rehobot Kids, let’s learn to guard our hearts for God. When bad feelings come, pray and ask God to help you. A guarded heart will lead to a good life—full of peace and pleasing to God.
