Today’s devotion title:
God’s Word Is a Lamp That Helps Us Be Thankful

Psalm 119:105
“Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light on my path.”

Sophia is a fifth-grade student who faithfully goes to Sunday School. She also reads God’s Word every day. One morning, Sophia woke up feeling annoyed because she had to go to school while it was raining hard. Her shoes got wet, the road was slippery, and she thought the whole day was going to be terrible.

At school, her classmates were noisy too, and that made her feel even worse. During break time, Sophia sat by herself and almost started complaining again. But then she remembered a verse she often read: God’s Word is a lamp and a light. So Sophia opened her small Bible and read a verse about giving thanks. Her heart started to calm down.

Then Sophia tried to notice the good things in her day. She could still go to school, she still had an umbrella, she still had lunch, and she still had friends to play with. She prayed softly, “God, thank You. Even though it’s raining today, You’re still taking care of me.”

That afternoon, Sophia’s mom asked how her day went. Sophia smiled and said, “I was upset earlier, Mom. But God’s Word reminded me to be thankful, so I felt calmer.” Her mom was happy and said, “That’s a sign God’s Word is lighting your way. Being thankful helps our hearts see God’s goodness, even when things aren’t perfect.”

Rehobot Kids, God’s Word helps us learn to be thankful every day. When you feel like complaining, remember that God is still with you and always has something good for you to see. Let God’s Word be the lamp that guides us to live with thankful hearts!
