Today’s devotional is titled:
God Renews My Heart
Psalm 51:10
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
One day, Ethan was playing with his friends. He was usually a kind and friendly boy. But that afternoon, he became very angry because someone borrowed his toy without asking. In a loud voice, he scolded his friend, and his friend felt sad and walked away.
After that, Ethan sat alone. His toy was back, but his heart didn’t feel happy. Instead, he felt guilty and heavy inside. Ethan remembered what he had learned in Sunday School—that when we do something wrong, we can come to God. So he prayed softly, “Lord Jesus, I was angry and said unkind words. Please forgive me. Please renew my heart.”
Slowly, Ethan’s heart began to feel calmer. The next day, he bravely apologized to his friend. His friend forgave him, and they played together joyfully again. Ethan’s heart felt light and full of peace.
Rehobot Kids, God wants us to come to Him when our hearts are not right. When we admit our mistakes and ask God to renew our hearts, He helps us change and restores the joy inside us.
Let’s ask God every day to renew our hearts, so we can live with love, gentleness, and joy that come from Him.
