Today’s Devotional:
Counting to Three

1 Thessalonians 3:12
“May the Lord make your love increase and overflow for each other and for everyone else, just as ours does for you.”

“Ugh, you are so annoying! I’m counting to three! If you keep bothering me, I’m going to tell the teacher!” said Nita to Ben, who often teased her at school. Rehobot Kids, have you ever experienced something like Nita did? It certainly isn’t pleasant when someone keeps bothering us. When that happens, it is okay to ask for help from a teacher or a trusted adult.

However, we also need to learn to keep loving those who treat us unkindly. Loving them doesn’t mean letting them continue to bother or hurt us. We can still firmly state that we don’t like their behavior and ask for help if needed. Afterward, we can choose not to retaliate with mockery or bad actions.

We can also show love by praying for them and remaining kind. If the situation allows and we feel safe, we might even invite them to play or build a better friendship. God wants our love to keep growing—not just toward our best friends or people we naturally like, but also toward others around us.

Come on, Rehobot Kids, let’s learn to have a love that grows greater every day. When someone upsets us, let’s not be quick to respond with anger. Let’s ask God for help so we can act wisely, be patient, and remain loving, making our lives a blessing to others.
