A Joyful Heart
Proverbs 17:22
“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a crushed spirit dries up the bones.”
That morning, Sion came to school with a grumpy face. He was upset because his toy broke the night before. All day long he became easily irritated and didn’t want to joke around with his friends. Actually, it wasn’t school that made him upset—it was his heart that wasn’t feeling right.
Rehobot Kids, have you ever felt like that? When your heart is full of annoyance, everything feels wrong. Small problems seem very big. God’s Word reminds us that a joyful heart is like good medicine. That means joy makes our hearts lighter and brings peace.
God cares about what’s inside our hearts. If our hearts are filled with anger and complaints, we will quickly feel tired. But if we come to God and say, “Lord, please replace my frustration with joy,” God will help us. Being thankful and forgiving others can warm our hearts again.
Rehobot Kids, joy doesn’t mean we are never sad. Joy means we trust that God is still good in every situation. Let’s learn each day to guard our hearts and choose joy. A joyful heart not only makes life more beautiful, but also pleases God.
