A Gentle Heart

Proverbs 28:14
“Blessed is the one who always fears the Lord, but the one who hardens his heart will fall into disaster.”

Rehobot Kids, imagine a sponge and a rock. If we drip water onto a sponge, the water immediately soaks in. But if we drip water onto a hard rock, the water just runs off. Our hearts can be like that too. God loves children who have hearts like sponges—soft, receptive, and willing to learn.

A soft heart is very important. The world may say that a great child is one who is stubborn and never gives up. But God says the opposite. A great child in God’s eyes is one who fears God, listens to advice, and does not close their heart when reminded.

A soft heart is seen in our daily attitudes. When mom, dad, or teacher corrects us, we are willing to listen without getting angry. When we realize we have done wrong, we are willing to apologize and try to improve ourselves. And in every choice, we want to do what pleases God because we love Him.

The Bible reminds us that a hard heart can cause us to fall into trouble. But a soft heart brings blessings. God gives wisdom, protection, and guidance to humble children. Jesus Himself set an example by living a life full of humility and love.

So, Rehobot Kids, remember: a gentle heart does not mean weakness. Rather, it is a sign that we are strong, willing to learn, and willing to be shaped by God every day. Let’s ask God to help us have a gentle heart and fear Him!
