Diligent and Grateful
Colossians 4:2
“Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful.”
“Mom, I’ve been praying every day. Why hasn’t God answered my prayer yet?” Dodi asked his mom. It turned out that Dodi only wanted a new bicycle because his friends already had better models. His mother then explained that prayer is not just about asking for what we want. Dodi still has a bicycle that can be used well, so he needs to learn to be grateful for what God has already given.
Rehobot Kids, God is pleased when we diligently pray. However, prayer is not just a list of our wishes. When we pray, we can also express gratitude for family, health, food, friends, and all the blessings that God gives us every day. A grateful heart makes us love God even more.
Colossians 4:2 teaches us to be steadfast in prayer while giving thanks. It means that we remain faithful in prayer, both when God has answered our prayers and when we are still waiting. We believe that God always knows what is best for His children.
Come on, Rehobot Kids, starting today, don’t just come to God when you want to ask for something. Also, get used to praising and giving thanks to Him. The more we are grateful, the more we will realize how good and faithful God is in our lives.
