Obedience = True Joy
Psalm 119:2
“Blessed are those who keep His statutes and seek Him with all their heart—”
Nia felt confused when her friends invited her to go to the mall on Saturday. However, there was a youth activity at her church on the same day, and her parents wanted her to join. Nia began thinking of making up an excuse so she would be allowed to go with her friends. The night before, as she prayed before going to sleep, Nia remembered how important obedience is. She felt God reminding her to keep doing what is right as a child who has been redeemed.
The next day, Nia honestly told her friends that she could not go to the mall because she would be attending the youth activity at church. To her surprise, several of her friends became interested and wanted to come along to the event. Nia’s heart was filled with joy. She gave thanks because she had chosen to obey God and did not try to find a way to avoid the church activity.
Rehobot Kids, obedience is not always easy, but God always gives joy to children who are willing to do His will. When we choose to obey, God can use our lives to be a blessing to others. Therefore, let us learn to obey God every day, for obedience that comes from a heart that loves God brings true joy.
