Listening to Parents’ Advice
Proverbs 1:8
“Listen, my son, to your father’s instruction and do not forsake your mother’s teaching.”
Rehobot Kids, have Mom or Dad ever reminded you to be careful when playing, to study harder, or not to use your phone for too long? This advice may sometimes feel tedious. But in truth, all of it is given because they love us and want to keep us safe.
In the verse we just read, God teaches us to listen to our father’s guidance and our mother’s lessons. Parents have much more life experience, so they can warn us to stay out of trouble and help us make the right choices. When we are willing to listen to their advice, we are learning to become wise children.
Rehobot Kids, let us learn to value every good piece of advice our parents give. When we listen to and obey them with a willing heart, God will help us grow into wise children, keep us from many mistakes, and make us more pleasing to Him.
