Beni’s Flashlight
Psalm 119:105
“Your word is a lamp for my feet, a light on my path.”
One night, the lights in Beni’s house suddenly went out. Beni wanted to get his water bottle from the kitchen, but he was scared because the house was dark. Luckily, Dad quickly grabbed a flashlight and turned it on. “There, now you can see where you’re going,” Dad said. With the help of the flashlight, Beni was able to walk carefully without bumping into chairs or tripping over his toys, and he made it safely to the kitchen.
Rehobot Kids, God’s Word is like a flashlight that illuminates our path. God’s Word helps us know what is right and what is wrong. When we’re unsure how to act, God gives us guidance through His Word. For example, when we want to retaliate against a friend who’s being mean, God’s Word teaches us to forgive. When we’re tempted to lie, God’s Word teaches us to tell the truth. When we’re too lazy to help our parents, God’s Word teaches us to be obedient and respectful toward them.
God does not give us His Word to make our lives more difficult. On the contrary, God’s Word guides us to walk on a path that is right, safe, and filled with His help. Therefore, do not be afraid when facing various choices in life. God has already provided light through His Word. Let’s learn to listen to and obey God’s Word with joy every day so that we can walk with Him.
