Obedience Makes Us Wise
John 14:23
“Jesus replied, “Anyone who loves me will obey my teaching. My Father will love them, and we will come to them and make our home with them.”
Peace be with you, Rehobot Kids. Do you know what obedience means? In John 14:23, the Lord Jesus said, If anyone loves Me, he will keep My word. This means that obedience is how we show our love for God. If we love God, we will listen to and do what He says. Rules and guidance are not given to restrict us, but to help us grow into wise children.
Being wise does not only mean being good at math or science, but also knowing how to make right choices. For example, when parents say, “Be careful, the road is slippery,” a wise child will listen and walk slowly. They do not need to fall first to believe that the road is slippery. By listening to advice, we learn from the experience of others without having to go through failure or pain ourselves.
Rehobot Kids, through obedience, we learn to become wise children. We learn when to speak and when to listen. We also learn to control ourselves so we do not get angry easily, and choose to understand the feelings of others. Let us continue to grow as children of God who are obedient, wise, and pleasing to His heart.
