Obedience Makes God Happy
Ephesians 6:1
“Children, obey your parents in the Lord, for this is right.”
Dear Rehobot Kids, God has given us parents who love and care for us. Mom and Dad work hard, take care of us, teach us, and always want what is best for us. That is why God teaches us to obey our parents. However, obeying is not always easy. When we are having fun playing, Mom may ask us to put our toys away. Or when we want to watch television, Dad may tell us to finish our homework first. Even though it can sometimes feel difficult, every time we choose to obey, we are doing something that pleases God’s heart.
Imagine building blocks or assembling a toy by following the instructions. If we follow the instructions carefully, the result will be strong and well-made. But if we ignore them, the result may be broken or not turn out as it should. The same is true with our parents’ advice. They guide us so that we can grow into children who are kind, wise, and responsible.
Rehobot Kids, God wants us to learn obedience not because we are forced to, but because we love Him and sincerely honor our parents. Therefore, let us practice obedience every day. When Mom asks for help, do it gladly. When Dad gives advice, listen carefully. Obedience may seem like a small thing, but through obedience, we show our love for God and grow into wise children who become a blessing to many people.
