Today’s devotion titled:
Listening and Doing

James 1:22
“But be doers of the word, and not merely hearers—otherwise, you are deceiving yourselves.”

One day at school, the teacher gave homework to all the students. “Don’t forget to do it, okay? Otherwise, you might get a bad grade,” said the teacher. All the students replied, “Okay, ma’am!” After class, Andi invited Kiko to play PS4 at his house. Excitedly, Kiko immediately accepted the invitation and put off doing the homework his teacher had reminded him about.

Once they arrived at Andi’s house, they played so enthusiastically that they didn’t realize it had already gotten late. Suddenly, Kiko remembered that he hadn’t done his homework yet. “Oh no! I haven’t done my homework yet!” he exclaimed in a panic. He immediately went home and hurriedly worked on his homework, afraid he wouldn’t finish in time.

Rehobot Kids, Kiko had actually heard the teacher’s message to do his homework, but just hearing it isn’t enough. He also has to do it. The same goes for God’s Word. God doesn’t just want us to hear what is right—He wants us to put it into practice with an obedient heart.

Therefore, let’s be obedient doers of the Word and remain faithful to God. By putting His Word into practice, we show our love and obedience to Him and experience God’s ways—which are always good—in our lives.
