Correction
Proverbs 15:5
“A fool despises a parent’s instruction, but whoever heeds correction shows prudence.”
“Ah… Dad not up to date and doesn’t understand kids today. This game is going viral on social media,” complained Andi. Dad firmly explained that the game was dangerous. Pulling a chair away when someone is about to sit down or making a friend fall while walking could cause serious injury. “What if your friend gets hurt or seriously injured? Can you take responsibility for that?” Dad said.
Hearing that, Andi began to think. He realized that following a trend without thinking about the consequences could be dangerous. Andi then said, “I’m sorry, Dad. I promise I won’t join challenges like that.” He learned that his dad’s advice was actually meant to protect him and others.
Rehobot Kids, sometimes correction from our parents does not feel pleasant. But they give it because they love us and want us to grow into better people. When we are willing to listen and accept correction, we are learning to become wise children.
So let’s learn to have hearts that are willing to accept advice. By listening to good correction, we can grow to become better every day.
