Don’t Think You’re the Smartest
Proverbs 3:7
“Do not be wise in your own eyes; fear the Lord and shun evil.”
There was a boy named Budi. He had just learned how to ride a two-wheeled bicycle. Because he could already pedal his bike, Budi felt very proud and thought he was really great. His father said, “Just ride your bike in the yard, okay? Don’t go out to the main road.” But Budi thought he was already smart enough, so he secretly rode his bike onto the road. Suddenly, a car passed by and honked its horn. Budi was startled, lost his balance, and fell down.
Budi thought he knew best, so he didn’t want to listen to his father’s advice. But that advice was meant to protect him. Thinking that we are the smartest can lead us to make wrong decisions.
Rehobot Kids, God’s Word reminds us not to be proud, but to fear the Lord. This means we respect God, love Him, and choose to do what is right. We also learn to listen to advice from our parents and teachers.
Let’s learn to be humble children who are willing to obey. Because a child who listens and does what is right is a truly wise child.
