A Pure Heart

Proverbs 11:20
“A person whose heart is crooked is an abomination to the LORD, but a person whose ways are blameless is His delight.”

Ririn looked restless and unhappy. She was usually cheerful, but for the past few days she had been locking herself in her room. It turned out that Ririn was hiding something from her parents. She had received a poor grade on her math test, and she was afraid that her parents would be angry if they found out. Therefore, after school, Ririn went straight to her room with a troubled heart.

One afternoon, Ririn’s mother knocked on her door and called her name softly. Ririn’s heart was pounding. Hesitantly, she opened the door. Her mother asked why Ririn had been looking sad lately. Hearing her mother’s gentle voice, Ririn couldn’t hold back her tears. She finally told the truth about her test score.

Ririn’s mother hugged Ririn and said, “Honey, Mom and Dad may be sad, but lying makes our hearts unclean. God is happy when we are honest, even when we are wrong.” Ririn nodded and felt sorry. She promised not to lie again and to learn to be honest with her parents.

Rehobot Kids, God loves children who have pure and honest hearts. Even if we make mistakes, God is pleased when we admit them and try to make amends. Let’s learn to have pure hearts, so that through our words and actions, God is glorified and pleased.
