Today’s devotional is titled:
Rejoice in the Lord
Psalm 37:4
“Delight yourself in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.”
On Sunday morning, Sela woke up with a frown on her face. She wanted to play since early morning, but her mother asked her to get ready to go to church. In her heart, Sela said, “I want to play first.” With slow steps, she still went to church.
When the service began, Sela sat down and listened to the hymns. At first, she sang softly. However, she slowly began to pay attention to the lyrics—about God who is good, faithful, and always loving. Without realizing it, Sela sang more earnestly, and her heart felt calmer and lighter.
As she listened to God’s word, Sela realized something. With God, her heart felt safe and happy, even though she didn’t always get what she wanted. After church, Sela helped her mother at home with a cheerful heart.
In the afternoon, her father invited Sela to play. Sela smiled broadly. She learned that when she rejoices in God first, God knows what she needs even before she asks for it.
Rehobot Kids, God longs for us to enjoy fellowship with Him, because He always gives us the best at the right time.
