Heart Set on God

Psalm 86:11
“Teach me Your way, LORD, that I may rely on Your faithfulness; give me an undivided heart, that I may fear Your name.”

Hi, Rehobot Kids!
Have you ever imagined that inside our hearts there are many “feeling characters”? There is Joy, Sadness, Anger, Fear, and Disgust. All these feelings can take turns showing up and influencing the way we think, speak, and act each day.

That’s why our hearts need to be guided by God. God’s Word teaches us to have an “undivided heart” that fears Him. This means our hearts are not pulled in many different directions by changing emotions, but stay focused on God. Even when our feelings are mixed up, we won’t be easily confused or carried away by wrong emotions if our hearts are set on Him.

Now take a moment to check your heart, Rehobot Kids. Is your heart filled with love, honesty, and gentleness? Or is it easily filled with anger, jealousy, and carelessness? God does not only see our actions—He also sees what is inside our hearts. A clean heart that wants to be led by God truly pleases Him.

Let’s learn to guard our hearts every day. If we realize our hearts are starting to go the wrong way, we can come to God, repent, and ask for His help. Start each morning with a simple prayer: “Lord, guide my heart today so I may live rightly, faithfully, and lovingly like You.” A heart set on God will lead our lives onto the right path—full of peace and truth.
