Today’s devotion title:
Be Patient and Keep Being Thankful

Psalm 37:7
“Be still before the Lord and wait for Him. Don’t get angry when people who do wrong seem to succeed.”

“Ugh… I’m so upset!” Heru said with a gloomy face. Heru didn’t get chosen to be the drummer for the Sunday School event. He felt like all his practice was useless, so his heart felt sad and disappointed.

Heru walked home slowly. When his mom saw him, she asked what happened. Heru hugged her, cried, and said he felt like God didn’t hear his prayer, even though he really wanted to be picked.

Heru’s mom calmed him down and said, “God isn’t ignoring your prayer, sweetheart. God knows what’s best for His children. None of your practice was wasted. God has the right time to answer your prayer.” Heru started to understand. He chose to stay thankful even though he had felt disappointed.

The next day, Heru went to school. He was surprised when some friends came up to him and said Heru had actually been chosen to join a drum competition and be the drummer for an even bigger event than before. Heru was so touched. He thanked God and felt a little embarrassed for being so upset earlier.

Rehobot Kids, from Heru’s story we learn to be patient and keep being thankful. God always hears our prayers, and He answers them at the best time. So keep praying with a trusting heart, and don’t get angry or give up too quickly. God knows what’s best for us.
