Today’s devotion title:
The Blanket That Warms Us
Psalm 41:4
“The LORD helps him on his bed of sickness, and restores him from his illness.”
One night, Gio woke up with a headache and a fever. His body felt hot and weak. He couldn’t sleep and really hoped he’d be better by morning. His mom came in, checked his temperature, and covered him with a thick, warm blanket. While she made him some tea, Gio said softly, “Mom, I don’t like being sick. It feels awful… why would God let me get sick?”
His mom sat beside him, gently stroked his hair, and said, “Sweetheart, being sick really doesn’t feel good. But when we’re weak, God wants us to come closer to Him. Like right now… you want to be near Mom, you want help, you want to depend on someone. It’s the same with God—He wants us to come to Him and trust Him.” Gio went quiet and hugged his blanket. He realized that even though his body felt weak, his heart could still be strong because God was right there with him.
The next day, he still wasn’t fully well. But something inside him had changed—he felt calmer. He prayed quietly, “God, I know You are close when I’m sick. Thank You for taking care of me.” His heart felt covered with warmth—not just from a blanket, but from God’s love that never leaves him.
Rehobot Kids, being sick really isn’t fun. But when we’re sick, we can learn to hope in God and trust Him. He can use our weak moments to pull us closer to Him.
So let’s be thankful, Rehobot Kids, because God is always with us—even when our bodies are weak, His love is still strong and warms our hearts.
