Today’s devotion title:
A Gift from Heaven

Psalm 147:8
“He covers the sky with clouds, supplies the earth with rain, and makes grass grow on the mountains.”

One morning, Sera was getting ready for school. She opened the window and sighed, “Ugh… rain. Guess I can’t wear my favorite white shoes.” The sky looked dark, and the rain was pouring so hard that the yard felt like a little pond. Sera felt lazy, annoyed, and just wanted to stay curled up in bed.

Suddenly, her маленький cat, Milo, jumped up to the window and licked the raindrops dripping from the frame. Seeing that, Sera was confused and asked her mom, “Mom, why does Milo like rainwater? It’s cold and wet…” Her mom smiled and said, “Because for Milo, rain is a gift. Rain makes plants grow. Plants become food for animals. Rain also fills rivers, people drink from them, and life keeps going. If there were no rain, the earth would get sick.”

Sera went quiet. She had never thought about it that way. All this time she only saw rain as a hassle—when actually God uses rain to give life to the whole earth. From that day on, every time it rained, Sera remembered one thing: “God is sending a gift from heaven.”

Little by little, Sera’s heart changed. She didn’t get upset when rain came anymore. She learned to see rain as God’s way of taking care of the world and blessing every living thing.

Rehobot Kids, just like rain can feel annoying sometimes, there are also things in our lives we don’t like or that make us uncomfortable. But when we look with eyes of faith, we can find God’s goodness behind every situation. God is always working—even through things we don’t enjoy.
