Today’s devotion title:
A Heart Battery That Needs to Be Recharged

1 Thessalonians 5:18
“Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus.”

Happy New Year, Rehobot Kids! The start of a new year usually feels special. We get a new calendar, new excitement, and new hopes. Just like a phone needs to be restarted so it runs better, our hearts also need to be recharged so we’re ready to live this year with joy!

Think of your heart like a phone battery. When it’s full, you can do lots of things happily. But when it’s almost empty? Everything feels slow, dark, and eventually it shuts down. In this new year, God wants our hearts to stay full—and the way to do that is by learning to be thankful every day.

There was a boy named Rafa. Last year, Rafa usually remembered to pray only when he was sad or scared. But when things were going well—his grades were good, he got a New Year gift, and his family went on vacation—Rafa forgot to thank God. His mom reminded him, “Rafa, our hearts also need to be recharged with thankfulness—not only when life is hard, but also when we’re happy.”

So Rafa made a “New Year Thankfulness Journal.” Every night before bed, he wrote down three things he was thankful for that day. And guess what? He felt happier, got less angry, and kept remembering that God is good every single day.

Rehobot Kids, let’s start this new year with thankful hearts! Be thankful for your family, your health, your school, your friends, and even the small things God gives you.

When our hearts are full of thankfulness, we’ll have a strong “heart battery” to go through the next 365 days with God. Happy New Year!
