Today’s Devotional is titled:
You’re Called, Even in Your Sneakers
“Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.” Colossians 3:23-24
Ever feel like your days at school or work are just mundane routines? But for God, ordinary places can become extraordinary fields. Like you wearing sneakers to class, or rushing to a meeting in a hoodie with a coffee in hand—you’re still called. God isn’t waiting for you to become “spiritually serious”; He wants you to serve right where you are now.
Imagine Peter Parker from the movie Spider-Man: Homecoming. He’s still in high school, acting cool, awkward, and facing many struggles, but he also has a “calling” he can’t ignore. Amid schoolwork, crushes, and teenage pressures, he still chooses to act when he knows he can help others. His calling isn’t about costumes or superpowers; it’s about a heart willing to be used.
Service on campus and in the office is similar. You don’t have to be perfect or know all the answers. But when you help a friend in need, remain honest under work pressure, or comfort someone who is tired, that is service. You are becoming a spiritual version of “Peter Parker” wearing sneakers, but bringing light.
What to Do:
1. Identify situations at school, campus, or the office that could be opportunities for service: group assignments, conflicts, or friends who need support. Take concrete steps.
2. Pray that you may have a heart like Peter Parker’s—not just waiting for big moments, but starting with small things with love and responsibility.
