Worries

Matthew 6:34
“Therefore, do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”

Many people say they believe in God, yet their actions do not show that they truly believe God exists. How can we see for ourselves whether we still hesitate or lack certainty about God’s existence? When we are in unnecessary worries and fears. Check whether there are necessary fears and worries. If we believe that God exists, then we will have a holy fear and proper concern. For example, worrying about not entering heaven or being afraid of not entering heaven. This must, of course, arise from the fear of God. And the fear of God must come from our reverence and love for God. Jesus Himself said in Luke 12:5, “I will tell you whom to fear: fear Him who, after He has killed, has authority to cast into hell. Yes, I tell you, fear Him!

It is impossible for someone not to fear God if they grasp how awesome God is. If we truly comprehend God’s existence, there will certainly be an extraordinary dread within us. That dread makes us fear being separated from Him. Separation from Him means entering hell. Therefore, we strive not to do things that wound the heart of the Lord, which could result in being cast out from God’s presence. That is holy fear and positive concern. It is like a careless student who is not afraid to fail and shows no concern. Usually, such children live recklessly or carelessly. Only when graduation results are announced does fear and dread appear. That dread should arise beforehand, not afterward. When someone fears not advancing to the next grade, they will study diligently. They can set aside unnecessary things.

We must fear God so that we arrange our lives today as best we can. Thus, when we face the brink of death, we will not fear death. When we stand before the judgment seat of Christ, we will not be afraid either, because we are accustomed to living rightly. This is not a simple matter. Claiming to believe that God exists while still worrying about and being afraid of many things is the wrong attitude. We must believe that God exists, be certain of it, and continually internalize it. We must command our souls, even our nerves, to always be convinced that there is a living God whose eyes see us and who watches all our behavior and deeds.

A person who truly believes that God exists will not fear any circumstance, for God is greater than everything. Indeed, each of us is still learning. Sometimes when facing threatening difficulties, our hearts can tremble and lose courage. We may even doubt whether God will intervene, as if God does not exist. Sometimes the Lord seems to let our problems drag on. But actually, all of that is a test to see whether we truly believe that God exists. We must be certain that the great and awesome God can overcome everything.

If we still have unnecessary fears or worries, it is usually due to two things. First, we do not trust in God’s power. Second, we still have a life that is not in order or not pleasing before God. If someone’s life is not in order before God, then they cannot have firm faith, because they are not accustomed to believing that God exists. These two things are interconnected. If someone is truly certain that God exists, they will strive to live holy and not wound God’s heart with actions displeasing to Him. In that case, their faith will become firmer and will increasingly grow stronger.
