Wisdom Begins with Closeness to God
James 1:5
“If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.”
Rehobot Youth, every day we are faced with various decisions. From choosing friends, setting priorities, managing time, using social media, to making major decisions about our future. Many people think that good decisions depend solely on intelligence (IQ) or the ability to understand our own and others’ emotions (EQ). However, the Bible teaches that there is something far more important: wisdom that comes from God. That wisdom is born from a close relationship with Him.
Someone might be very intelligent and have excellent communication skills, but they will still make the wrong decisions if they do not involve God. Knowledge helps us understand many things, and healthy emotions help us build relationships, but only God’s wisdom can guide us to see everything from His perspective. That is why James teaches that anyone who needs wisdom should ask God for it, for He generously gives to everyone who believes.
Rehobot Youth, closeness to God is not just about being diligent in worship or having extensive Bible knowledge. Closeness to God means building a living relationship with Him every day through prayer, God’s Word, and obedience. When we live close to God, the Holy Spirit helps us discern what is right and wrong, what is good and what only appears to be good, and guides us to make decisions in accordance with His will. This is the foundation of a strong spiritual life (SQ).
Therefore, Rehobot Youth, don’t just strive to be intellectually smart or emotionally mature. Build a spiritual life that draws ever closer to God, for that is where true wisdom comes from. When God is the center of your life, every decision you make will be guided by His wisdom, so that your life will not only be successful by the world’s standards but also pleasing to God and a blessing to many people.
What To Do?
1. Involve God before making a decision.
2. Cultivate a close relationship with God every day.
3. Pursue wisdom, not just intelligence.
