When God Called Moses
“Moses said to the Lord, “Pardon your servant, Lord. I have never been eloquent, neither in the past nor since you have spoken to your servant. I am slow of speech and tongue.” — Exodus 4:10
When God called Moses to lead the Israelites out of Egypt, his first response was not confidence, but fear and doubt. Moses felt he was incapable. He was aware of his weakness in speaking and felt unworthy to carry out such a great task.
Often, we are like Moses too. We feel we aren’t smart enough, talented enough, confident enough, or that our lives aren’t good enough to be used by God. As a result, we focus more on our own weaknesses than on who God is—the One calling us.
However, God did not revoke His call on Moses simply because of his weaknesses. God showed that Moses’ success did not depend on his own ability, but on God’s presence living with him. God does not seek perfect people, but those who are willing to trust and walk with Him.
Rehobot Youth, do not let feelings of inadequacy keep you from God’s calling. The living God is able to use a weak life to become an instrument of His glory. Focus not on your limitations, but on the Lord who is always with you.
What to Do?
• Reflect on the areas of your life that often make you feel incapable.
• Learn to trust that God can use your life despite your limitations.
• Ask God to give you the courage to answer His call.
