Today’s Devotional is titled:
Used in Unexpected Places
“And who knows but that you have come to your royal position for such a time as this?”
— Esther 4:14b
Sometimes we feel like our presence in campus or at work is just a coincidence. But Esther proved that God can place us in specific positions for a greater purpose. Even in environments that don’t seem spiritual, God can still work through our courage and sensitivity.
Esther was a young woman living as a queen in a foreign land. She didn’t grow up in a spiritual environment, but she didn’t lose her identity as one of God’s people. When her nation was threatened, Esther didn’t stay silent. She had the courage to step up even though the risks were high. Today, Gen Z also often faces the choice: stay silent or speak up, go with the flow or stand firm.
God calls us to be bold, just like Esther.
Serving in campus or at work isn’t always about openly preaching. Esther didn’t give sermons in the palace she used her position, relationships, and courage to save many lives. Likewise, you serve God through your work done with excellence, through empathetic interactions, and by making ethical choices when others take shortcuts.
God can use you right where you are, even if it seems ordinary. Maybe you’re currently doing an internship, working part-time, or studying in your dorm. But if you’re willing to serve God faithfully there, no place is too small. Esther was in a palace; you might be at your desk or a simple workstation. But God can still use you for something big.
What to Do:
1. Write down one position or place where you are currently (classroom, office, division, project). Then pray: “Lord, use me here.”
2. Start one bold action this week for example, take initiative to help a struggling friend, speak up for honesty at work, or reach out to someone who feels ignored.
