Today’s Devotional:
Unplug to Connect
“Be still, and know that I am God!”
— Psalm 46:10a
Have you ever planned to scroll TikTok for just five minutes, and suddenly—boom—an hour is gone? We live in a world that’s always online, but ironically, the more connected we are to everything else, the farther we drift from God. Without realizing it, our hearts chase every update from the world while forgetting to update our relationship with Him. God isn’t anti-technology, but He longs to be part of your time too. Sometimes what we need isn’t a new phone or full-bar signal—but a heart that remembers God is right beside us, waiting to be noticed.
“Unplug” doesn’t mean running away from the world. It means giving God space to speak in the middle of all the notification noise. When we dare to pause and step back from our screens, we open the door for God to “log in” to our lives again—not to fix our algorithms, but to touch our hearts. God wants a real connection, not just a mention or a like. He wants a two-way relationship—a place where we can be honest, listen, and find peace.
What to do:
1. Try the “digital pause challenge.” For one hour, step away from your phone, laptop, and social media. Use that time to reflect, give thanks, or simply sit quietly before God.
2. Pay attention to how your heart reacts when you’re not holding your phone. Do you feel restless, empty, or peaceful? Write it down and bring it to prayer maybe that’s where God wants to speak.
3. Replace 10 minutes of scrolling with a short prayer. Every time you’re about to open social media, pause for a moment and say, “God, I want to connect with You first.”
