Trusted by God, Trusted by Others
Galatians 5:22-23
“But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.”
Hi, Rehobot Youth! Being a trustworthy person isn’t just about keeping secrets or keeping your promises. Trust is built through consistent character—being honest when no one is watching, being responsible with small things, and continuing to do what’s right even when there’s an opportunity to take a shortcut. Interestingly, the Bible shows that this kind of character is also part of a life led by the Holy Spirit.
Paul explains that one of the fruits of the Spirit is faithfulness. This means that when we make room for the Holy Spirit to lead our lives, He shapes us into people who are increasingly faithful and trustworthy. The Holy Spirit helps us choose honesty when lying feels easier, keep our commitments when we start to feel lazy, and take responsibility for what has been entrusted to us. A trustworthy character doesn’t appear overnight, but is formed through obedience in simple, everyday decisions.
Rehobot Youth, perhaps not everyone sees how you carry out your tasks, manage the money entrusted to you, keep a friend’s secret, or fulfill the promises you’ve made. But God sees it all. Living led by the Holy Spirit means allowing Him to guide us to keep doing what is right—not because we’re being watched or afraid of being caught, but because we want to live according to God’s will.
Therefore, Rehobot Youth, learn to be sensitive to the Holy Spirit’s guidance in every responsibility you take on. Don’t underestimate faithfulness in small matters, because that is where trust is built. As the Holy Spirit continues to shape our character, others will see a person whose words and actions are trustworthy. A life led by the Spirit isn’t just evident in what we do at church, but also in our faithfulness when no one is watching.
What To Do?
1. Ask the Holy Spirit to help you say and do what is right, even if there are consequences.
2. Carry out every responsibility earnestly, including the small things.
3. Do not make promises lightly if you cannot keep them.
