True Joy
Romans 14:17
“ For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit.”
Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever felt happy because something you’d been waiting for finally happened? For example, your post got a lot of likes, you got good test scores, or you managed to reach a goal you’d been working toward for a long time. It certainly feels great. However, that kind of happiness often doesn’t last long. When circumstances change or expectations aren’t met, that joy gradually fades away.
Through Romans 14:17, Paul reminds us that life in the Kingdom of God is not determined by outward things or worldly achievements. What matters most is righteousness, peace, and joy through the Holy Spirit. True joy does not come from what we have or experience, but from our relationship with God, which fills our hearts through the Holy Spirit.
The world often teaches that we will be happy if we have more, are well-known, or succeed in achieving all our dreams. However, such joy is fleeting when circumstances do not meet our expectations. In contrast, the joy God gives endures because it springs from His love and presence. The Holy Spirit helps us maintain peace and hope, even in the midst of life’s challenges.
Rehobot Youth, don’t let others’ achievements or recognition be the measure of your happiness. Live in truth, enjoy the peace that God gives, and let the Holy Spirit fill your heart with true joy. When God is the center of your life, you will find happiness that is not easily shaken by circumstances.
What To Do?
1. Set aside time to dwell in God’s presence.
2. Ask the Holy Spirit to fill your heart with peace and joy.
3. Don’t seek joy from the world’s approval.
