The World Cannot Satisfy

“Meaningless! Meaningless!” says the Teacher. “Utterly meaningless! Everything is meaningless.”— Ecclesiastes 1:2

Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever felt incredibly happy when you got a new item, achieved something amazing, or received a lot of attention from others… but that sense of satisfaction was only temporary? The world often makes us think that the more we have, the happier our lives will be. In reality, the human heart will never truly be satisfied by worldly things.

Solomon was a very wealthy and wise king. He had wealth, power, popularity, and almost everything a person could desire. Yet after experiencing it all, Solomon realized that the world cannot provide true satisfaction. In the book of Ecclesiastes, he declared that everything is meaningless without God. His life experiences taught him that only God can give life true meaning and fulfillment.

Today, we may not have a palace like Solomon’s, but we often chase the same things: recognition, social media likes, achievements, or validation from others. None of that is wrong, but when made the center of our lives, our hearts will remain empty. Knowing the living God changes our perspective—that the world is not the ultimate goal, but a place to live for God and do His will.

Rehobot Youth, don’t spend your life chasing only temporary things. You are made for more—called to know God and live for something eternal. For only God is able to fully satisfy the human heart.

What to Do?
• Reflect: What worldly things do you most often pursue?
• Learn to see that only God can provide true satisfaction.
• Use your time for things that build your relationship with God.
