The Lepton Coin
Mark 12:43–44
“Calling his disciples to him, Jesus said, ‘Truly I tell you, this poor widow has put more into the treasury than all the others. They all gave out of their wealth; but she, out of her poverty, put in everything—all she had to live on.’”
Truth Junior friends, do you remember the story of the poor widow who gave two small coins as an offering? Those small coins were called lepton coins, which in those days had very little value. Yet in God’s Word, what mattered was not the amount she gave, but the sincerity of her heart. God saw her willingness to give everything to Him with joy.
We learn here to be generous— it’s mean to have love in our hearts and to be faithful to God. Sometimes we may wonder, What is an offering? God’s Word reminds us that true offering is when we give our whole lives to God. Every desire, dream, hope, and attitude we have—we offer them to please Him.
The story of the poor widow also shows us a hero of faith with a willing and sincere heart. She gave all she had, even though it was little, to the Lord.
So let’s begin praying: “Lord, help me to give with a willing and joyful heart. Fill me with love and generosity to share with others.” When we do this, we can be a blessing to others and bring joy to God.
Keep going, Truth Junior friends! God will surely guide your journey—always trust Him and rejoice in Him
