Today’s reflection is titled:
The Courage to Live in the Light
“Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.”
— Ephesians 4:25
Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever said something that wasn’t entirely true just to avoid trouble? Perhaps saying, “The assignment wasn’t submitted because of internet issues,” when in reality, you simply forgot to do it. Or pretending everything is fine so others won’t find out about a mistake you made.
Dishonesty often begins with small things. We think, “Oh, it’s just this once,” or “No one will know.” Yet, the more often we do it, the easier it becomes to live behind a mask. We start hiding reality and fearing that others might see who we truly are.
God’s Word calls us to leave falsehood behind and choose to live in the truth. Admittedly, speaking the truth isn’t always easy. Sometimes we fear the consequences, disappointing others, or losing their trust. However, lies offer only momentary comfort, whereas honesty brings true freedom.
God isn’t looking for people who never fail. God seeks a heart willing to admit mistakes and be shaped by Him. When we come to God honestly, He does not reject us. Instead, He forgives, restores, and helps us live with integrity.
Rehobot Youth, living in the light means stopping the hiding behind lies and having the courage to be your authentic self before God. It might start with admitting a mistake, apologizing, or choosing to speak the truth even when it feels uncomfortable. That step isn’t easy, but God is able to give you the courage to take it.
What to Do?
• Evaluate: Is there anything you have been hiding because you were afraid to speak the truth?
• Ask God for the courage to live with integrity.
• Take steps to speak the truth and take responsibility for your actions.
