Taking Care of Our Body
“Do you not know that your bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own.” – 1 Corinthians 6:19
“Antooo!!!” Anto’s mom shouted, calling him out of his room.
Anto had a habit of coming home from school and immediately lying on his bed without washing up first. His mom often reminded him to change his school uniform and take a shower right away, so his body would be clean before resting. Spending the whole day outside meant his body was sweaty, dirty, and exposed to pollution.
But did Anto listen? Unfortunately, he often ignored his mom’s advice and kept his bad habit. Until one day, Anto fell sick because he hadn’t taken care of his hygiene properly. His body grew weak, and he became more vulnerable to sickness.
Even while he was sick, his mom lovingly took care of him and gently reminded him again: our body is the temple of God, and we must keep it clean and healthy.
Feeling sorry, Anto apologized to his mom for not obeying her advice. After he recovered, Anto began changing his bad habits. He no longer jumped straight onto his bed after school. Instead, he would change clothes and take a shower first so his body stayed fresh and clean.
Anto was grateful to have a mom who never gave up on reminding him. He realized that our body is a gift from God. That’s why we need to care for it, keep it clean, and stay healthy every day.
