Today’s Devotional Title:
Step Back, Move Forward
Proverbs 19:11
A person’s wisdom yields patience; it is to one’s glory to overlook an offense.
“Winning with words doesn’t always mean winning in the heart; surrendering for the sake of love is the truest victory.”
Sometimes we think wisdom is only about logic about who has the stronger argument or who can prove themselves right. But God’s Word shows that true wisdom isn’t just logic; it’s the combination of a strong mind and a tender heart.
Stepping back in a disagreement doesn’t mean you’re losing. In fact, you’re choosing a greater victory: a peaceful heart and a restored relationship. When we give others the chance to make things right, we are practicing wise love love that holds back ego to create space for others to grow.
In emotional battles, true victory is the courage to learn from mistakes and to realize that everyone can disappoint us at some point. That’s maturity. Yet God praises those who forgive sincerely, without leaving any trace of bitterness. For He stands with hearts that are in tune with His gentle, loving, and reflecting His heart toward everyone.
What to Do:
1. Write down your last “losing” moment
Recall a time when you chose to step back or hold yourself back. Ask yourself: Did I feel like I lost, or did I feel peace? Write down your feelings and see what God might be teaching you through that moment.
