Today’s devotional is titled:
Sensitive to God’s Work
1 Timothy 4:7–8
Have nothing to do with godless myths and old wives’ tales; rather, train yourself to be godly. For physical training is of some value, but godliness has value for all things, holding promise for both the present life and the life to come.
Rehobot Youth, we often say, “Why does God seem so far away?” or “I don’t feel anything.” But it’s not that God isn’t working, but that we aren’t yet sensitive enough to see His ways. Sensitivity doesn’t come automatically. It’s cultivated.
Just as the body needs exercise to become strong, our spiritual life also requires discipline so that we can become more sensitive to God’s voice and work. Through prayer, the Word, quiet time, and other spiritual habits, our hearts begin to be “trained” to recognize God.
God often works through simple things: a word that really hits home, a comforting prayer, or a small moment that turns out to be meaningful. But if we rarely spend time with God, we can easily miss it all.
Spiritual disciplines aren’t empty routines. They’re how we build relationships. And the closer we are to God, the more clearly we’ll see how He works in our lives. So if you want to be more discerning, don’t wait for feelings. Start with habits.
What To Do?
• Establish a regular time for prayer and reading God’s Word.
• Learn to be discerning of the little things God does.
• Practice consistency, not just when the mood is good.
