Today’s reflection is titled:
Rising Again in Grace
“for though the righteous fall seven times, they rise again,”
Proverbs 24:16a
There are days when we feel like we’ve ruined everything. We make the wrong decisions, disappoint others, or speak words that should never have left our lips. We promise God we will change, yet some time later, we fall into the same mistakes again. Then come the voices that discourage us: “You’re a failure, you’ll never change, God must be disappointed in you.” Slowly, we begin to believe that failure is our identity. Yet, the Bible never says that a righteous person is someone who never falls. On the contrary, the Bible says that a righteous person is someone who rises again.
We often focus so much on our stumbles that we forget God’s grace is always greater than our mistakes. Imagine a small child learning to walk. They take a step, then fall. They stand up, then fall again. No parent would say, “That’s it; you simply aren’t meant to walk.” Instead, they reach out a hand, smile, and say, “Come on, try again.” God is the same way. He is not surprised by your failures. He sees your tears, knows your remorse, and still extends His hand to help you back up.
In today’s world, many people feel their lives are ruined by a single mistake—an ill-advised post, a poor decision, or a failure in their studies, career, ministry, or relationships. The world often labels us by our worst mistakes, but God sees beyond that. Look at Peter. He once declared he was ready to die with Jesus, yet hours later, he denied his Master three times. That failure caused him to weep bitterly. But Peter’s story didn’t end with his failure. Jesus sought him out, restored him, and used him once more. That disciple who had fallen went on to become a leader in the early church, bringing many people to Christ.
Peter’s failure was not the end of his story, and your failure is not the end of yours. Perhaps there is a part of your life right now that feels like a mess. Maybe there are unanswered prayers, shattered dreams, or sins that make you feel unworthy. Remember this: falling is part of the human journey, but staying down is not God’s plan for your life. Grace always invites us to rise again—not because we are strong, but because He is faithful.
What To Do?
• Stop defining yourself by your failures.
• Come to God honestly and openly.
• Take one small step to get back up today.
