Today’s reflection is titled:
Restored by His Love
“Create in me a pure heart, O God, and renew a steadfast spirit within me.”
— Psalm 51:10
Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever felt unworthy of coming to God because you kept comparing yourself to others? Perhaps you saw a friend who seemed more spiritual, accomplished, or successful, and thought, “I could never be like them.” Ultimately, that sense of inferiority caused you to distance yourself from God.
Jesus once told a story about a Pharisee and a tax collector who came to pray. The Pharisee was busy comparing himself to others and felt superior. In contrast, the tax collector was aware of his weaknesses and simply cried out, “God, have mercy on me, a sinner.” It was the humble person whom God justified.
This story teaches us that God does not judge us based on comparisons with others. God looks for a heart willing to come to Him honestly. God’s love is not given because we are better than others, but because He loved us first.
The world often keeps us busy comparing our worth, achievements, appearance, follower counts, or the successes of others. But God does not use the world’s standards. He sees every individual as a precious child in His sight. When we come to God with humility, He is able to heal wounded hearts and restore our identity in Him.
Rehobot Youth, do not let comparison steal your joy. God’s love is far greater than any failure, weakness, or feeling of inferiority you may experience. Come to Him just as you are, for in His love, there is always restoration.
What to Do?
• Stop comparing yourself to others and focus on your walk with God.
• Come to God with a humble and honest heart.
• Believe that God’s love is greater than your weaknesses and failures.
