Today’s Devotional Title:
Purity Is a Choice, Not a Feeling
1 Corinthians 6:19
“Or do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit within you… and that you do not belong to yourselves?”
Many people think purity is about vibe. As long as the atmosphere is still “safe,” as long as you’re not carried away by your feelings, as long as you can still control yourself, then everything is fine. But God’s word teaches something deeper: purity is not about feeling, but about decision. Feelings can go up and down, but obedience is a deliberate choice.
Paul says that our bodies are temples of the Holy Spirit. This means that our lives are not empty spaces that can be used as we please. The way we date, the way we view our own bodies, the way we treat others—all of these reflect whether we are aware that God dwells in us or not. Purity is not about looking holy, but about honoring God through our daily choices.
Temptation is real. Environmental pressures are real. But holiness doesn’t mean never being tempted—holiness means saying “no” when opportunities to compromise are right in front of us. Every time we choose obedience, we are saying: God, You are more important than momentary pleasure.
Purity is a choice. And every small choice we make today shapes our future. God doesn’t demand that we be perfect, but He longs for us to be faithful. That is where true peace and strength are found.
What To Do?
1. Realize that every decision you make is a form of respect for God.
2. Set clear boundaries in relationships, not based on feelings, but on the Word.
3. Ask for the power of the Holy Spirit to continue choosing a holy life every day.
