Today’s Devotional Title:
Prayer in the Midst of Differences

“But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you.”
— Matthew 5:44

Differences of opinion often cause young people to react quickly. A small offense leads to distancing. Feeling out of sync results in silence or broken relationships. Yet spiritual maturity is not measured by how strongly we defend ourselves, but by our ability to keep loving and praying—even for those who do not share our views.

The story of Huldah (2 Kings 22:14–20) offers a profound lesson. When King Josiah discovered the Book of the Law and sought to confirm God’s will, he sent leaders to consult Huldah. She stood before influential figures with authority and possibly differing perspectives. Yet Huldah did not fear, attack, or withdraw. She delivered God’s word firmly, honestly, and obediently—without losing love. She stood in truth while keeping a heart fully submitted to God.

From Huldah, we learn that differences in position, perspective, or background should never be a reason to cut off relationships. In fact, this is where Christlike character is tested: can we love without having to agree, and pray without needing to win the debate? Pausing, listening with an open heart, and then bringing those differences before God in prayer are marks of spiritual maturity.

Loving and praying for those who differ from us is not easy. But that is the path Jesus taught. When we choose prayer over emotional reactions and love over ego, we show that the peace of Christ is stronger than any difference.

What to Do?
1. When facing someone with a different perspective, pause and choose to listen first.
2. Pray for them—not to “change” their views, but that God’s love would be evident in their lives.
3. Remember Huldah: speak the truth with love, not with anger.
