Potential to Care

“But a Samaritan, as he traveled, came where the man was; and when he saw him, he took pity on him. He went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine. Then he put the man on his own donkey, brought him to an inn and took care of him.” — Luke 10:33–34

Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever seen someone so preoccupied with themselves that they don’t care about those around them? The world often teaches us to focus on ourselves, yet our true potential is revealed when we begin to care for others.

Jesus told the story of the Good Samaritan. He wasn’t someone considered important by society, but he had a heart full of compassion. When he saw the injured man, he didn’t turn a blind eye. He spent his time, energy, and even what he had to help. His greatest potential wasn’t just his ability, but a heart willing to care.

You also have the potential to make a difference in others’ lives. Maybe you’re a good listener, can cheer up a friend, or make the atmosphere warmer. When your motivation is right and your life is close to God, He can use that potential to show His love to others. Sometimes a simple act of care is enough to make someone feel they’re not alone.

Rehobot Youth, God didn’t create us just to live for ourselves. We are made for more—called to care, to love, and to be an answer for the people around us. The world can change through a heart that genuinely cares.

What to Do?
• Train yourself to be more sensitive to the needs of those around you.
• Use your potential to help and encourage others.
• Keep your heart pure so that your care flows from genuine love.
