Potential Builds Hope
“Then I said to them, “You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.” I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me.” — Nehemiah 2:17–18
Hi, Rehobot Youth! Have you ever felt that one person can change the atmosphere in a group? There’s a friend whose enthusiasm is contagious, whose words are encouraging, and whose presence makes others more positive. That’s proof that potential used with a sincere heart can bring hope to many people.
Nehemiah was originally just the king’s cupbearer—not a prophet or a priest. But he had a caring heart and was willing to be used by God. When he saw Jerusalem in ruins, he didn’t stand idly by. Through prayer, courage, and the leadership God gave him, Nehemiah mobilized many people to rise up and rebuild the city walls. His potential became God’s instrument to restore hope to his people.
You too can be a “Nehemiah” in your community. Perhaps through your enthusiasm, your creative ideas, your care for friends, or your attitude that brings peace. When your motivation is pure and your life remains holy, God can use your potential to create a better atmosphere and bring hope to others.
Rehobot Youth, God doesn’t give you potential just for yourself, but to build up and strengthen those around you. You are made for more—called not only to succeed, but also to bring hope and positive change wherever God places you.
What to Do?
• Find simple ways to motivate and encourage your friends.
• Keep your life holy so that your potential is used rightly.
• Use your abilities to build others up, not tear them down.
