Not Weary, Not Tired

“But those who wait on the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall mount up with wings like eagles, they shall run and not be weary, they shall walk and not faint.”
— Isaiah 40:31

The apostle John was known as a disciple who was very close to Jesus, even referred to as “the disciple whom Jesus loved.” After his ministry with Christ, John did not live an easy life. He was persecuted, exiled to the island of Patmos, and lived in long isolation. Interestingly, John did not experience spiritual exhaustion that caused him to give up. Even in the midst of isolation, he remained faithful in maintaining his spiritual life—praying, meditating on the Word, and listening to God’s voice.

It was this consistent spiritual routine that sustained John in difficult times. Instead of losing hope, he received revelations from God and wrote them down as encouragement for the suffering church. From John, we learn that true strength does not depend on external circumstances, but on maintaining a close relationship with God.

Like John, we are also invited to wait on God faithfully through healthy spiritual habits: prayer, reading the Word, and being still before Him. When we live close to God, He renews our strength. We may still walk and run amid the pressures of life, but we are not overcome by fatigue—because God Himself sustains our steps.

What To Do?
1. Maintain Spiritual Routines – Set aside time each day for prayer and reading the Word, even when you are tired.
2. Learn to Wait on God – Take a break from your busy schedule and realize that God is your source of strength.
3. Recharge Spiritually – Don’t just be active; make sure your heart is also restored in God’s presence.
